1. Introduction
ClassifiedPing ("we", "us") respects the privacy of everyone who uses our website classifiedping.com, the ClassifiedPing app and the related services. In this privacy policy we explain what personal information we collect, why we collect it and how we protect it.
2. What information do we collect?
We collect the following personal information:
- Account information: name, email address and password when you sign up
- Search preferences: the alerts, filters and preferences you set
- Usage data: IP address, browser type and sign-in times
- Email engagement: whether and when you open our email notifications, and which links you click. We measure this with an invisible image ("pixel") and a redirect through
classifiedping.com/go.php. We use this to improve our service and to judge which notifications are relevant. For clicks, IP addresses are stored hashed, not in raw form. - App and push notifications: if you use the ClassifiedPing app, we store a push token for your device and the device type (Android or iOS), so we can deliver notifications. If you sign out of the app, we delete that token.
- Sign in with Google: if you choose this, we receive your name, your email address and a Google ID from Google. We do not get access to your Google account.
- Payment information: when you take out a paid subscription, payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store credit card details.
Do not want email tracking? You can turn off email notifications per alert (through the link at the bottom of every email) or entirely on your profile page. Push and Telegram notifications will keep working.
3. What do we use your information for?
We only use your information to:
- Create and manage your account
- Send notifications by email or push
- Improve our service
- Process payments through Stripe
- Prevent abuse
4. Sharing with third parties
We do not share your personal information with third parties, except:
- Stripe: to process payments
- Email delivery: to send notifications
- Google (Firebase Cloud Messaging): to deliver push notifications in the app. Google receives the push token and the content of the notification.
- Telegram and Discord: only if you connect them yourself, to deliver notifications there
- When we are required to do so by law
5. Security
We take appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, loss or misuse. Passwords are stored encrypted and the connection to our website is secured with SSL/TLS. We are a company based in the Netherlands, so your information is processed outside Canada, mainly in the European Union and, through service providers such as Stripe and Google, also in the United States. There it may be subject to the laws of those countries.
6. Retention period
We do not keep your personal information longer than necessary for the purposes for which it was collected. When you delete your account, your information is deleted within 30 days.
You can delete your account on your profile page and in the app under Account > Delete account. More information is on Delete account.
7. Your rights
Under Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which applies to us as a Dutch company, you have the following rights:
- Right to access your personal information
- Right to correct inaccurate information
- Right to have your information deleted
- Right to restrict processing
- Right to data portability
- Right to object to processing
To exercise these rights, contact us through our contact page. You can also file a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens).
8. Cookies
We only use functional cookies that are necessary for the website to work (such as session cookies for signing in). We do not use tracking or advertising cookies.

We may change this privacy policy from time to time. The most recent version is always available on this page.
